Landscapers Wanted To Help Demonstrate New Electric-Powered Maintenance Equipment

The demonstration takes place Tuesday in East Quogue.

EAST QUOGUE, NY — Landscapers are wanted to help demonstrate electric-powered maintenance equipment in East Quogue Tuesday.

In June, in partnership with Quiet Communities and the American Green Zone Alliance, Southampton Town Councilwoman Christine Scalera worked with the town's parks department to create the first AGZA Green Zone on the East Coast at the East Quogue Village Green.

A demonstration day will take place Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the green, located at 630 Montauk Highway in East Quogue— and all licensed landscapers in the town are invited to participate in a demonstration of the electric-powered maintenance equipment.

“The town has purchased a fleet of state-of-the-art electric-powered maintenance equipment for use at the AGZA Green Zone located at the East Quogue Village Green that will allow it to achieve the same aesthetic in a healthier, more sustainable manner,” Scalera said.

A certified AGZA Green Zone is a defined area of land, such as a park, hospital, or school campus, where routine maintenance is performed with zero emissions, low noise equipment, and manual tools, the town said.
