Who Won? Victors Declared In Southampton Town

Dems will have the majority vote on the Southampton town board after Tuesday's election.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The voters have spoken and incumbent Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman will serve another term.

Schneiderman, a member of the Independence party nominated by the Dems, received 8172 votes to challenger Ray Overton's 4172, with all districts in.

"I look forward to continuing to serve the residents of Southampton Town and working with the newly elected town board member Tommy John Schiavoni," Schneiderman told Patch Tuesday night.

In the town board race, Democrat Julia Lofstad received votes and Dem Thomas Schiavoni, 6848. GOP candidate Thea Fry garnered 4528 votes and incumbent Stan Glinka lost his re-election bid with 6017 votes cast.

The vote means that Dems will dominate the Southampton town board moving forward.

Town clerk Sundy Schermeyer, who ran unopposed, received 12132 votes.

Incumbent Southampton Town Superintendent of Highways Alex Gregor won his re-election bid with a total of 7465 votes to challenger Lance Aldrich's 5580.

Winners in the Southampton Town race for trustees were Bruce Stafford with 10,855, Bill Pell with 10,940, Ed Warner Jr. with 6776, Ann Welker with 6463 and Scott Horowitz with 6461.
