
School board elections are happening across New York State on May 21. Here is who will be on the ballots at local school districts:
Sag Harbor
6 Vie for 4 Seats in Sag Harbor; Window Opens for Others to Enter the RaceIncumbents Chris Tice, Edward Drohan and Susan Kinsella wish to keep their seats. The challengers are Thomas Re, Daniel Hartnett and David Diskin.
The two top-vote getters will receive full three-years terms beginning July 1. The candidates who finished in second and third place will be sworn in immediately after the election and their terms will expire June 30, 2015.
There were originally seven contenders, but Jonathan Glynn dropped out.
Because a candidate has removed himself from the ballot, others interested in entering the race now have until May 10 at 5 p.m. to turn in a petition. The documents are available from the district clerk's office and must be returned to her with the signatures of at least 28 qualified Sag Harbor School District voters.
Bridgehampton
3 Candidates for 3 Seats on Bridgehampton School BoardThere are three seats up for grabs in the Bridgehampton School Board election and only three candidates, but the candidate with the least votes will earn less time on the board than the other two.
Two terms are expiring, while the third spot is on the ballot to fulfill former School Board member Elizabeth Kotz’s unexpired term.
Incumbent Lawrence LaPointe is seeking another three-year term. Gabriela Braia, who was appointed to fill Kotz’s seat until an election could be held, now wishes to become an elected member of the board. Jennifer Vinski, who is a member of the district’s audit committee, is the third candidate.
Incumbent JoAnn Comfort declined to seek re-election.
Southampton
