Man Charged With Multiple Overnight Break-Ins In Quogue: Cops
He entered several properties and vehicles in the area overnight, police say.

QUOGUE, NY — A Riverhead man has been arrested and charged in a series of overnight break-ins in Quogue, police said.
Oscar N. Mayen-Orrego, 21, was arrested and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor, petty larceny, a misdemeanor, possession of burglar tools, a misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, multiple counts of attempted petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and multiple counts of trespass, a violation, police said.
According to Quogue Village, officers responded to a call at 2:53 a.m. Monday about someone going through vehicles on Niamogue Lane. Police, with the the assistance of Westhampton Beach Police Department, canvassed the area — and Mayen-Orrego was found on a property on Niamogue Lane, officials said.

When officers attempted to interview him, he fled on foot; Mayen-Orrego was apprehended and detained a short time later nearby, police said.
Mayen-Orrego had gone onto several properties and entered several vehicles in the area of Niamogue Lane, Ocean Avenue, Old Depot Road and Old Meetinghouse Road in an attempt to steal property, police said.

He was also found to be in possession of suspected stolen property, and was in possession of burglar tools, police said.
Mayen-Orrego is scheduled to be arraigned at Quogue Village Justice Court on July 6, police said.
Although an arrest was made, the investigation is ongoing; additional charges could be added at a later date if more individuals come forward, police said. Individuals should contact the Quogue Police immediately if there is any suspicion that they were affected by the incident, police said.
