Man Charged With Stealing 3 Cars In Southampton: Cops

He was held at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A man was arrested after stealing 3 cars, police said.

According to police, on Friday, the New York State Police Riverside Barracks, with the assistance of the Village of Southampton Police Department, arrested 32-year old David Trotman of the Shinnecock Indian Reservation, as a result of an ongoing state police investigation.

All the vehicles were stolen from Southampton Village, police said. Two of the vehicles were recovered on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation and the third was recovered from a local train station, police said.

State Police were able to link Trotman to all 3 stolen vehicles, police said.

Trotman was charged with three counts of third degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, police said.

He was arraigned at Southampton Town Court and was remanded to the Suffolk County jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, police said. He is due back in court on Wednesday, police said.
