New App Lets Residents Notify Town About Quality Of Life Concerns
It just got a whole lot easier to notify Southampton Town officials about issues residents want addressed.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — It's now a lot easier for residents to notify the town about quality of life complaints in Southampton.
Southampton Town just launched a new mobile application on Monday to help residents notify officials about issues including street light outages or illegal dumping.
The new application, Southampton Online Solutions, or SOS, is an online tool that provides the resources for citizens to submit service requests, a release from Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman's office said.

In addition, the app will allow town staff and officials to play a more integral role in public services, routing neighborhood concerns to the right person, with the right solution, the release said.
SOS can be used from any computer, tablet, or mobile device, and is a user-friendly interface that takes the user through a series of steps that helps them identify the problem with the correct department.

Once the request is submitted, it is logged and made available to various town staff and officials for review through a specialized mapping application; the mapping application allows staff to track the progress on any case and run reports to verify that requests are being resolved in a timely manner, the release said.
Users will receive case numbers upon submission and an automated email with each change of status if requester provides an email; those reaching out can choose to remain anonymous, too.
Each department will have a liaison that will review specific cases and dispatch appropriate help to take care of the issue; each case will be entered into a system to be checked regularly by department heads.
“No calls will go unanswered”, Schneiderman said. “We are using technology to better address community concerns."
“SOS will provide a conduit for the public to quickly and easily share concerns with the town so that we can quickly and efficiently resolve issues”, added GIS Manager Ross Baldwin.
