Beach in North Sea Closed Down

The beach was closed down after levels of bacteria that exceed state standards were found.

Emma Rose Elliston Beach in North Sea was closed down on Tuesday after levels of bacteria that exceed New York State standards were found, according to the Suffolk County Department of Health Services.

According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in water contaminated with bacteria can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
