• Man, 19, Found Unclothed In Car With Girl, 14, In Riverside: Police (patch.com) — Southampton Town police say a 19-year-old Riverside man was arrested after an officer on extra patrol found him unclothed in a car with a 14-year-old girl at the David Sarnoff Preserve in Riverside. The man was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, processed at police headquarters in Hampton Bays, and released on a desk appearance ticket for a later court date.
   

• Town of Southampton Seeks to Boost Housing Affordability and Support Local First Responders • Southampton, NY ' I Love Hamptons (ilovehamptons.com) — Southampton officials are proposing a big boost to first-time homebuyer assistance, raising Community Housing Fund support up to 18% of a home's purchase price and adding loan forgiveness for volunteer first responders. A Town Board public hearing on the changes is set for Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, at 1 p.m., with leaders saying the plan aims to keep working families and volunteers living in the community.
   

• Shinnecock Nation gets $2M grant toward housing improvements (newsday.com) — The Shinnecock Indian Nation has secured a $2 million grant to upgrade 25 low-income homes on its Southampton reservation, funding major repairs like mold remediation, roofing, and energy-efficient systems. Local partners, including Dime Bank and Hamptons Community Outreach, helped make the project possible, with leaders aiming for safer, more affordable, and eventually solar-powered homes for elders and other residents.
