Man Trapped In Vehicle Near Steep Embankment After Rollover: Cops
The man was airlifted by Suffolk County Aviation for treatment, police say.

EASTPORT, NY — A man was trapped in his vehicle precariously near a steep embankment after a rollover crash Tuesday morning, police said.
According to Southampton Sgt. Michael Burns, the crash with entrapment took place in the northbound lane of County Road 51, southwest of Speonk Riverhead Road, at 8:53 a.m.
Suffolk County Aviation was requested to medevac the individual, Burns said.

According to the Eastport Fire Department, the call came in Tuesday morning regarding a crash on the northbound side of County road 51. When Eastport Fire Department arrived on the scene, first responders found the vehicle rolled over between the guardrail and a steep embankment.
Chains from a bystander's tow truck assisted with stabilizing the car until further assistance could arrive; additional help was on scene rapidly and officials were able to stabilize the car from going down the embankment, the Eastport Fire Department said.

Fire department members utilized the heavy rescue tools and removed the roof of the car to allow medical personnel from Flanders Ambulance, Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance and Manorville Community Ambulance to gain access to the injured occupant, officials said.
The patient was treated on scene and airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by medevac helicopter, officials said.
His condition is not yet known, officials said.
The Suffolk County Sheriffs Office and New York State Police also responded to, and remained on, the scene to complete the accident investigation.
The northbound lane of County Road 51 remained closed Tuesday morning for the investigation, officials said.
