Pierson High School Health Students Teach CPR

Pierson High School students, who are certified to teach CPR, used their knowledge to train Springs students in the life saving technique.
Before teaching CPR, the Sag Harbor students spent several weeks training with their health teacher Sue Denis, who certified them in American Heart Association CPR for trainers during an elective course that is taught at the Sag Harbor school.

Students will also use their training to teach a series of classes at the high school in January to adults.
This is the 20th year that Ms. Denis has been teaching Pierson students to be CPR trainers.

Since the program’s inception, more than 250 Sag Harbor students have become trained as instructors, more than 2,500 students have been trained in CPR and more than 20 of them used the skill to save a life.
