Sag Harbor Greenlights Greenport Ferry
County approval of fares and schedule still needed.

The Sag Harbor Village Board voted Tuesday night to grant a license to Peconic Bay Water Jitney to operate a water taxi on a trial basis connecting Sag Harbor to Greenport, The Suffolk Times reports, the penultimate step to realizing a pedestrian ferry.
Back on May 10, the Greenport Village Board approved the ferry, and now, The Times reports, the Suffolk County Legislature must sign off on the ferry’s fares and schedule during a vote June 19.
The ferry is a joint venture between President Geoffrey Lynch and Jim Ryan of Response Marine, who told The Times that he expects ferry service will begin between June 20 and June 28.
