Shinnecock Museum Seeking Volunteers to Help Repair Cultural Exhibit

The exhibit was damaged due to this year's harsh winter storms.

The Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center and Museum, which is the only Native-American owned and operated Museum on Long Island, is seeking volunteers to help repair damages in the village.

The Wikun Village, an outdoor living cultural exhibit which depicts life in the 17th/18th century Shinnecock community, which was built in 2013, was recently significantly damaged due to this year’s harsh winter storms.

“Just steps away from the Museum, located in a 2-acre pine/oak forested area, the Village gives guests the opportunity to take a step back in time and become active participants in an authentic Long Island Native Peoples’ setting,” a flyer from the Shinnecock Museum reads.
