South Fork Natural History Museum to Host First Annual Climate Change Forum and Benefit

The event will take place this Saturday at the Bridgehampton museum.

The South Fork Natural History Museum will be hosting their first Annual Climate Change Forum and Benefit, Climate Change: What It Means for the East End, this weekend.

The event will take place at the museum, located at 377 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton, on Saturday, June 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Recently, the museum announced that two new speakers will be joining the panel discussion – Peter Boyd, Senior Advisor and Climate Lead for the B Team, and Dr. Robert Stein, Sag Harbor Trustee and Child Psychoanalyst.

The two will be joined by Assemblyman Steve Englebright; Michael B. Gerrard; Andrew Sabin, director of the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law and Associate Chair of the faculty of Columbia University’s Earth Institute; Jack Rivkin, Chief Investment Officer of Altegris Group; Carl Safina, author; and Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr.

The panel will give guests a chance to share research and discuss creative solutions related to global climate change impacts on the East End, focusing on marine environments, mitigation (reducing greenhouse gas emissions) and adaptation while the benefit will raise funds for new Climate Change programming at SoFo to be launched this fall.

“SoFo is very excited to host this groundbreaking event focusing on the important topic of climate change,” Frank Quevedo, Executive Director of the museum, said. “We invite everyone from the community to join our discussion so we can work together to protect our planet.”

Individual tickets are $150 suggested donation, and $75 for students (children under 16 are free).
