Southampton Lifeguard Competition Heats Up

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A popular event is set to unfold as Southampton Town lifeguards prepare to participate in their annual inter-beach competition Thursday.

The event takes place at 6 p.m. at Scott Cameron Beach in Bridgehampton, town officials said.

Teams of lifeguards from the town’s beaches located east of the canal compete against teams of guards from west of the canal.

The competition also serves as preparation for the East Hampton Main Beach Lifeguard Tournament on July 20, town staffers said.

The lifeguards will also be honoring former retired Southampton Town Parks Superintendent Chris Bean, who will recognized for his many years as a lifeguard and parks supervisor.
