Southampton Man Nabbed Driving Drunk On County Road 39: Cops

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Southampton man was busted for driving drunk on County Road 39, police said.

According to New York State Police, on Nov. 6 at 2:18 a.m., Lehoang Nguyen, 31, was stopped while traveling 51 mph in a marked 35 mph zone and driving erratically while heading east on County Route 39.

While Nguyen was being interviewed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was found to be emanating from his breath and his performance on standardized field sobriety tests were indicative of being intoxicated by alcohol, police said.

Nguyen was placed under arrest and transported back to New York State Police Barracks Riverside where he refused to provide a breath sample; he was processed without incident and is due in the Town of Southampton Justic Court on Tuesday, police said.
