Southampton Students Participate in 'Hour of Code'

During Computer Science Education Week last month, students throughout Southampton School District were given the opportunity to participate in an Hour of Code.
The Hour of Code is a one-hour activity where students of all ages can use a variety of self-guided tutorials to explore what coding in computer science is all about.

Students at Southampton Elementary School participated in their classes with Technology Teacher Julia Best, who is guiding the kindergarten through 4th grade students through the online activities.
Fifth graders had the opportunity to explore the Hour of Code in their classes with Southampton Intermediate School Computer Teacher Mei-lynn Guerrero.

A special after-school opportunity was provided for students in Grades 6-12 thanks to a partnership with local coding expert Noah Carter, of Smarthampton.
Carter has been hosting one-hour sessions after school in the SIS Computer Lab this week, where he is assisting students in navigating through the tutorials.
