Tuckahoe Superintendent Considered For Position in Iowa

The local superintendent is one of two candidates up for the position.

Tuckahoe Common School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph Dyer might be leaving the district for a position at the Marion Independent School District in Marion, Iowa.

Dyer is one of two candidates consider for the position to replace current superintendent, Sarah Pinion, who has served the district for six years and will be retiring on June 30, according to a message on the Marion District website.

The other candidate is Michael Houselog, Superintendent for Belvidere Community Unit School District #100 in Belvidere, Illinois.

“My hope is to serve where educational needs are a professional match with my skills as an educational leader,” Dyer said according to a message on the website. “I highly regard the excellence and community pride that are characteristics of Marion Independent School District and am honored to be considered for the position of Superintendent. Thank you for your attention and interest in my application.”

Dyer has served as Superintendent for Tuckahoe Common School District since 2010.

He earned his Ed.D. from Virginia Tech, Master’s degree from Florida State University, and Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University.

Before joining Tuckahoe Common, he was Superintendent at Blue Ridge School District in New Milford, Pennsylvania and a principal and member of central staff at Albemarle County School District in Charlottesville, Virginia.
