Woman Caught Driving With Cocaine, Pipe: Police

The woman was stopped near the traffic circle, police say.

RIVERSIDE, NY — A Centereach woman was stopped and found to be driving with cocaine and a pipe in Riverside, police said.

According to New York State Police, Alyssa Somma, 25, of Centereach was arrested on June 20 on New York State Route 24, west of the traffic circle, for driving over the hazard marking lines, police said.

After an interview and standardized field sobriety tests, she was determined to be driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.

Somma was placed under arrest and troopers located a burnt glass pipe with cocaine residue inside her vehicle, police said.

She was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, transported to New York State Police barracks Riverside, then released to a sober third party and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Southampton Town Justice Court on July 12, police said.
