Woman Drove Drunk, On Drugs, Hit Guard Cables: Cops

A number of 911 calls came in about her driving on Sunrise Highway, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — An intoxicated woman seen driving on the median and striking the guard cables on Sunrise Highway was arrested Thursday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, several 911 calls came in at 7 a.m., with callers describing a silver Jeep heading east on Sunrise Highway on the center median, hitting the guard cables.

Southampton Town Police and New York State Police responded to Sunrise Highway attempting to locate the vehicle; Southampton Town police officers located and stopped the vehicle by the North Road, or Exit 66, police said.

Nicole Morgan, 37, of Mastic, appeared to be intoxicated and was found to be in possession of an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle; after officers conducted field sobriety tests, she was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, with a combined impairment of alcohol and drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation, and 10 separate vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.

She was transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters and held for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
