Write-In Candidate Steps Up Days Before Quogue Village Election
Eileen Duffy is an editor, author, and familiar face on the East End.

QUOGUE, NY — With just days before Friday's Quogue Village election, a new write-in candidate has come forward to challenge longtime incumbents.
Eileen M. Duffy, 51, a year-round resident of the village, is running for trustee of the Village of Quogue and challenging the two incumbent trustees Randy Cardo and Ted Necarsulmer.
Attendance in recent years at the polls has been low: Last year, 48 people turned out for the village election, with Mayor Peter Sartorius garnering 32 votes, Trustees, Jeanette Obser, 32, and Kimberley Payne, 39.

Duffy said she started going to board meetings last year to "listen and learn" and had plans to run next year.
"However, the two incumbents are running unopposed, and I believe the voters of the village deserve a choice. Also, last year, only 48 people voted in the election; if this encourages more registered residents to get involved, all the better," she said.

A writer and editor, Duffy is also a member of the historical society and the Quogue Association. And, she said, she wants "what most of us want, to keep the village the wonderful place it is to live now, and to keep it apace with our evolving world."
Polls are open Friday, June 16 from noon to 9 p.m. at the firehouse.
