9/11 Steel to Brewster Fire Department Oct. 21
An escort through the village; a ceremony; remembering local firefighters who worked at Ground Zero including one who died of cancer in 2015

The Brewster Fire Dept. will receive a piece of steel from the World Trade Center on Wednesday.
The steel will be picked up at Kennedy Airport by Brewster Fire Chief Tom Leather and a Brewster ambulance. The route back to Brewster will stop at the northbound rest area on I-684, after which Brewster fire apparatus will escort it through the village of Brewster to fire headquarters on North Main Street at around 3 p.m.
A small ceremony and blessing will take place at headquarters as the steel is unloaded.

“Earlier this summer the department lost a brother firefighter, Glenn Bisogno, from cancer associated with his work at Ground Zero,” said firefighter Frank Becerra. “He was one of many first responders from Brewster who assisted at the World Trade Center disaster, therefore this steel has special meaning to all at the Brewster Fire Department.”
