Brewster Resident to Be Honored by Westchester Jewish Council

A ceremony for the 2016 Julian Y. Bernstein Distinguished Service Awards will be held in March.

The Westchester Jewish Council will recognize 21 outstanding community volunteers at its 2016 awards ceremony.

The 2016 Julian Y. Bernstein Distinguished Service Awards will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 at the JCC of Harrison.

The award is named after Julian Y. Bernstein, a former Westchester Jewish Council board member.

Paul Warhit, president of the council, said the ceremony is an opportunity to honor a special group of people who make their own communities stronger through volunteerism and dedication.

In addition, there will be a special tribute to Larchmont resident Robert A. Cohen, outgoing president of American Israel Public Affairs Committee, for his years of service to the Jewish community.

The evening will also include a performance by the Youth Choir of Temple Sholom of Greenwich. The event is free and open to the public.
