Cornell Cooperative Extension Putnam County will hold our 2026 Master Gardener Volunteer May Plant Sale at Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park, 201 Gipsy Trail Road, Carmel, NY.
The plant sale will feature a huge selection of bulbs, herbs, container garden vegetables and native plants that support pollinators, picked by Master Gardeners for Putnam County gardens. Carefully chosen vegetable seedlings will be available singly or in multi-packs to allow gardeners try several different varieties. The sale will also include garden favorites such as colorful perennials, summer-flowering bulbs, native pollinator plants and herbs. Pre-planted vegetable garden containers will be available for that perfect Mother’s Day present. The proceeds from this charity event fund numerous CCE-Putnam programs.
Rain or Shine/ Under Cover
The event will be held rain or shine in a roomy and well-ventilated covered pavilion at Putnam Veterans Memorial Park, 201 Gipsy Trail Road, Carmel, NY.

The Brewster Carmel Garden Club is holding its annual plant sale featuring an outstanding selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, hanging baskets and potted planters. Our plants are grown at Kurtz Farms in Cheshire, CT, and are of exceptional quality. The 2026 event will be held at Lake Tonetta Park, 140 Pumphouse Road, Brewster, on Wednesday, May 6, with pick-up times from 1 - 4 PM. Orders placed are to be paid for on the day of pick up by either CASH or CHECK. This event is our club’s annual fundraiser. We are active in the community as sponsors of two scholarships to students from Carmel HS and Brewster HS who plan to pursue studies in horticulture or related environmental sciences. We are delighted to conduct educational programs on gardening in the evenings at both Reed and Kent Libraries. We also purchase plants, maintain and beautify Milltown Cemetery, Brewster Library, the Honor Roll in Brewster, Southeast Town Hall, and the Bluestar Memorial at the train station. In Carmel we maintain the Reed Memorial Library, Carmel Cornerstone Park, the Sybil Ludington statue, the Blue Star Memorial, and the County and Law Offices. In addition, we have a garden therapy program at Putnam Hospital. We decorate and donate wreaths to honor the veterans, decorate the Walter Brewster House at Christmas along with the Christmas Tree at Putnam Hospital, and we create centerpieces for the Friends of Kent Library for their annual holiday fundraiser. The Cultural Arts Coalition invites the community to a special Mother’s Day weekend edition of its monthly Community Drum Circle with Joshua 2.This gathering will offer a heartfelt space to honor not only mothers, but the powerful feminine energy that lives within all of us—the qualities of intuition, compassion, creativity, and connection that nurture both individual and collective wellbeing. Through rhythm and shared presence, participants are invited to celebrate these energies while acknowledging and honoring the mothers, caregivers, and ancestral lineages that shape our lives.
Drum circles are rooted in a long tradition of communal music-making that fosters unity, expression, and belonging. Guided by Joshua 2, this inclusive, all-levels experience invites participants to set intentions, connect through rhythm, and experience the grounding and uplifting power of collective sound.
Joshua 2 is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and shamanic energy healer whose work spans visual art, performance, music, community arts, and teaching. A lifelong creative, his artistic path has included theater, fine art, fashion illustration, blues and gospel-influenced music, and community-based arts projects focused on healing, inclusion, and social connection.&nbsp; A recent visit to his ancestral homeland of Nigeria renewed his commitment to drumming as a powerful practice for building community and shared meaning.
All are welcome—no prior drumming experience required. Drums will be provided, or participants may bring their own. A $10 donation is suggested.

<a href="https://fishkillhistoricalsociety.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Fishkill Historical Society</a> hosts <a href="https://www.facebook.com/dramafromthepast" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Drama From The Past</a>&nbsp;for their performance&nbsp;of "In the Shadow of the Gallows: The Trial of Joshua Hett Smith"
Step into the tense world of Revolutionary New York with this live performance by Drama From The Past. This performance explores a pivotal local story connected to Fishkill’s role in the struggle for independence.
The Story • Set in October 1780 • In the month before, the treason of Benedict Arnold had been exposed, and Arnold is on the run. His accomplice, British Major John André, had been captured, tried, and hanged. Joshua Hett Smith, a civilian who is suspected of facilitating Arnold's rendezvous with André, was caught in Fishkill and is now on trial for his life. Was Smith aware of his role in Arnold's treachery, or was he an unwitting dupe? Will the Board of Inquiry, led by John Laurence, punish Smith and make an example of those who betray the cause for Independence, or will they give him the benefit of the doubt for following orders and show him mercy?
This performance features Drama From The Past's Sean Grady and Gary Petagine. This immersive historical play brings a high-stakes moment of the American Revolution to life. Tickets are available for $20 for Fishkill Historical Society members and $25 for non-members.
