Carmel Cops Charge Mahopac Driver Who Had 17 License Suspensions
He was stopped at 12:30 a.m. Friday.
CARMEL, NY — A Mahopac 25-year-old whose driver's license had been suspended a total of 17 times on eight different dates faces more driving charges in Carmel after a traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Police said Officer Connor Carroll watched a black Honda Civic traveling on Baldwin Place Rd fail to stop at a stop sign and fail to signal while turning.
After he stopped the car, he found the driver, Mykola Popadynets, was operating the vehicle with a suspended New York State license.

Popadynets's license had been suspended a total of 17 times on eight different dates, police said. The DMV computer check also revealed that there was an active bench warrant for Popadynets out of Yorktown.
Popadynets was taken into custody and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and two traffic violations: operating a motor vehicle without a license and failing to use a turn signal.

He was processed pending a future court date in the Town of Carmel Justice Court, then turned over to Yorktown police on the active bench warrant.
