Coronavirus Exposure At Carmel ShopRite: Alert Issued

It happened the afternoon of Halloween, Putnam County health officials said.

CARMEL, NY — Putnam County officials have issued a health alert aimed at anyone who worked or shopped at the ShopRite on Route 52 on Saturday afternoon.

If you worked at or visited ShopRite Supermarket in the Carmel Plaza from 4 - 5:30 p.m. on Halloween, you may have been exposed to the coronavirus.

A member of the public who has tested positive for the virus was at the supermarket during this time, health officials said.

This notice remains in effect through Nov. 14.

Please watch for symptoms of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, which include fever, chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

County officials said ShopRite follows CDC cleaning protocols and is helping to keep the community safe by informing their customers that a visitor may have exposed others during the specified time.
