Drug Dealer From Peekskill Sentenced By Putnam Judge
He was on parole while he was dealing, said Putnam County District Attorney Robert V. Tendy.

CARMEL, NY — A 39-year-old Peekskill resident who is a six-time convicted felon was sentenced Wednesday to 24 years in prison for selling drugs in Putnam County. He was on parole at the time, said Putnam County District Attorney Robert V. Tendy in the announcement.
Omar Miles was sentenced by Judge James T. Rooney; he had been convicted by a Putnam jury this past September of three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

Prior to this arrest, he had 12 prior contacts with the criminal justice system and six prior felony convictions, all for drug sales.

Noting Miles's past criminal record, Judge Rooney said it had been “turn-style justice that has occurred.”
At sentence, Assistant District Attorney Breanne Smith said that “Omar Miles is the definition of a recidivist, a career criminal. Each day he is in jail is one less day that his drug dealing can victimize our community and one more day that the people of Putnam County are a little bit safer than before.”
Prior to handing down sentence, Judge Rooney said “Drug sale is not a victimless crime. It is simply profiteering on the misery of others.”
Upon his release, Miles will remain on parole supervision for 6 years.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Smith and Patricia Rau. Involved law enforcement agencies were the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police Crime Laboratory.
