Drugs, Bail-Jumping, Child Endangerment: NYSP Accuse 2 On I-84
Both are due in Southeast Town Court June 30.
SOUTHEAST, NY — New York State police report arresting two people on Interstate 84 in Southeast May 14. The two face drug and other charges — one for bail jumping and the other for endangering a child.
Police from the Brewster barracks arrested Peter A. Wenzel, 39, of Poughkeepsie, and charged him with two Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony, Bail Jumping in the 2nd degree, a class E felony, Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor, and False Personation, a class B misdemeanor.
Joseph C. Wayman, 33, of Saugerties, NY, faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both class A misdemeanors.

Troopers said they conducted a vehicle and traffic stop at 9:15 p.m. on a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu for a traffic law violation on I-84. Wayman was the driver.
Police allege the passenger, Wenzel, possessed 1.76 grams of cocaine, 1.35 grams of crack-cocaine, and 172 grams of heroin.

Also, Wenzel initially provided false information regarding his identity in order to avoid association with an outstanding warrant for his arrest, police alleged.
Wenzel was arraigned before the Putnam County Court, and released on his own recognizance. He is next scheduled to appear before the town of Southeast Court on June 30.
Wayman was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Southeast Court on June 30.
