Earthquake Hits Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — An earthquake that measured 2.2 on the Richter scale was recorded in northeastern Putnam County Thursday morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey, it happened near the intersection of Route 301 and Hortontown Road. The epicenter was 9 miles east-southeast of Beacon in Dutchess County and 11 miles north of Yorktown in Westchester County.
