Hudson Valley Honor Flights Postponed Due To New Coronavirus

The two May 2020 flights, out of Westchester Airport and Stewart Airport, are tentatively rescheduled for dates in the fall.

The organizers of Hudson Valley Honor Flight have postponed the two upcoming spring flights. The reason is to follow the "social distancing" protocols for slowing the spread of the new coronavirus.

"We know that our veteran applicants are anxiously awaiting their opportunity to take part in this special day," they said in a statement. "This heartbreaking decision was made after much debate, however above all else the health and safety of our veterans is our number one priority and we could not in good conscience move forward with our spring flight plans.

"In addition, the Center for Disease Control and World Health Organization have both stated that adults over the age of 60 are particularly at risk of infection and should avoid all non-essential air travel. The vast majority of our veterans fall into this high-risk category."
