Lots Of Rain, Chance Of Snow & Sleet: Hudson Valley Forecast

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A storm system could bring an inch of rain to much of the region starting overnight Wednesday, and the poor folks in Ulster County who have borne the brunt of severe weather so far in 2022 could get some sleet and even some snow.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for the eastern Catskills and southwest Adirondacks. Total snow and sleet accumulation of up to one inch and ice accumulation of around three-tenths of an inch are possible from 8 p.m. this evening to noon Thursday. Greatest impacts will be for elevations above 1000 feet. Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Plan on slippery road conditions. It will affect the Thursday morning commute.

Temperatures are rollercoastering this week, and by the end of the weekend could drop below freezing overnight.

Here's the five-day forecast from the National Weather Service based on northern Westchester:

• Wednesday - Mostly cloudy. Highs around 50. East winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Wednesday night - Rain. Lows in the mid 30s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph, increasing to 30 mph after midnight. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
• Thursday - Rain. Highs in the lower 50s. East winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
• Thursday Night - Rain. Lows in the mid 40s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of rain 80 percent.
• Friday - Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 50s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon.
• Friday Night - Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s.
• Saturday - Partly sunny. A chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Lows in the mid 30s.
• Sunday - Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s.
• Sunday Night - Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 20s.
