Mahopac Man Charged In U.S. Capitol Riot

He knowingly engaged in disorderly conduct in a restricted building to disrupt or impede the government, the FBI said.

A Mahopac man faces charges that he participated in the political violence at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6.

According to the arrest warrant dated Sept. 28, Anthony Vuksanaj was identified as a participant in the riot after the 52-year-old was charged by police in June over a knifepoint robbery in Mount Vernon.

In connection with that arrest, officers took his phone at the Westchester County Police
Department during the booking procedure. The phone was identified as having been used on the grounds and the interior of the United States Capitol building on Jan. 6.

In addition, the FBI examined videos of rioters inside the U.S. Capitol building that day, and identified Vukanaj in several, which are included in the complaint/arrest warrant.

It is a crime to engage in disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building in order to impede or disrupt the business of government. It is also a crime to engage in disruptive conduct in the Capitol buildings, and to demonstrate or picket inside the Capitol buildings.

The FBI arrested Vukanaj in Mahopac and he appeared in federal court in White Plains on Thursday.
