Man Accused Of Driving Without License, Interlock Device

A computer check found the man had previous DWI charges, police said.

PHILIPSTOWN, NY — A Newburgh man was accused of driving without an ignition interlock device. Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley said, around 7 p.m. April 4, a deputy sheriff said he saw a traffic violation on Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown and a vehicle stop was initiated.

A computer check by police found that the driver, Corey Prentice, 35, of Newburgh, had a suspended state driver's license for previous DWI charges.

Police said the computer check also found that Prentice was ordered by the court to only operate a vehicle with an installed ignition interlock device, which he car he was driving did not have.

Prentice was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and circumvention of an interlock device, misdemeanors.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Philipstown Justice Court.
