Man Hit Girlfriend In The Face At Flory's: Police

He had previously been convicted of a Family Offense, police said.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — The parking lot of Flory's on Bryant Pond Road was the site of a domestic dispute that ended in an arrest, Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports.

A 911 call Sept. 1 sent Deputy Matthew Shelters and Robert Detlefs at 4:50 a.m. to the Mobil station at 157 Bryant Pond Road in Putnam Valley.

Through interviews and an investigation, the deputies concluded that a Poughkeepsie man hit his girlfriend in the face several times and then took her cellphone when she tried to call 911.

Police also found out the man had been driving on Wood Street with a license that had seven total suspensions (6 on 5 dates), they alleged.

Steven Tomassetti, 31, was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree- Prevent or disable a person from requesting emergency assistance (Class A Misdemeanor), Harassment in the Second Degree- Physical Contact (Violation), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree- (Misdemeanor).

He also was charged with an Aggravated Family Offense (E Felony), because he had been previously convicted of a specified Family Offense within the last five years, police said.

After being placed under arrest, Tomassetti was transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held for arraignment.
