Man Who Attacked Ex-Wife's Lover Sentenced For Attempted Burglary

He broke into their house in Carmel and disappeared after his arraignment.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A Westchester County man who broke into the home of his ex-wife and children, and attacked her current partner, was sentenced in January to five years in state prison, Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy announced Thursday.

About a year ago, Jorge L. Sari-Tenesaca entered the house in Carmel through a kitchen window at 1 a.m. after disabling the exterior security cameras and attacked the man in his bed, prosecutors said.

She called 911 and Carmel police responded and were able to arrest Sari-Tenesaca at the scene.

However, after arraignment he was released, and did not show up for court. Eleven months later, he was located and arrested on a warrant issued by the Putnam County Court after indictment, prosecutors said.

Sari-Tenesaca was sentenced Jan. 24 to five years in prison with five years of post-release supervision and an eight-year full order of protection. He had pleaded guilty Nov. 29 before the Hon. Joseph Spofford as a second-felony offender to one count of first-degree attempted burglary.

Tendy thanked Criminal Investigator Jaemie Caban of the District Attorney’s Office, Detective Sgt. Brian Forde of the Carmel Police Department, as well as the City of Peekskill Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their assistance in locating and securing Sari-Tenesaca.

"When it comes to the safety of our Putnam County homeowners, we will engage all law enforcement agencies to ensure that the defendant is apprehended and brought to justice," Tendy said.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Todd W. Carpenter.
