Brian James Alberghini, 63, of Brewster, NY, passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2023, at Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT. His beloved wife, Janine, was at his bedside.
Brian was born in Barre, VT, the son of Concetta (Virgona) and Roy "Lefty" Alberghini. Brian was #4 of 5 children in a big, loving family: #1 Mark, #2 Paul, #3 Tod, and #5 Theresa. Over the years, he became a brother-in-law to Vickie (Coffin), Lydia (Monsivais), Anne (Mussucco) and "Magic Bob" DiPalma. Brian was the very much loved nephew of the Great Theresa Virgona. And of course, he gradually became Uncle BJ, Great Uncle BJ and even Great, Great Uncle BJ to a big bunch of awesome kids.

In 1963, the Alberghinis moved to Burlington, VT. Brian attended college in his hometown, graduating from the University of Vermont with a BA. After graduation, his passion for photography led him to work in New York City as a Lab Manager at Ornaal Photo Lab. In 1983, the stars aligned when a nice Italian girl from The Bronx was hired as his new darkroom technician. Brian and Janine (Marinaccio) got married in 1988, and Brian became a beloved son-in-law to Domenick and Theresa, and brother-in-law to Michael, Karen, Rocco, and Larry.
In 1991, Brian and Janine moved into their beautiful, old home sweet home in Brewster, NY, where they soon became the proud, adoring parents of their son Michael and daughter Melanie. In addition to his family, Brian loved his home and community. When he wasn't spending time with his loved ones, restoring their 1800's farmhouse, working in his gardens, or feeding the birds, he volunteered his time to local organizations that shared his belief in preserving and protecting the environment, water resources, wildlife habitats, and the well-being of his cherished community.

Brian served as a Board of Trustee member and as Vice President of the Putnam County Land Trust. He was also a Board member for the Concerned Residents of Southeast and worked hard to educate fellow residents on development and quality of life issues important to Southeast and its neighboring communities. Brian had an accomplished career in the commercial and industrial printing field from his early days at Kodak to his most recent position as a Product Support Consultant with Ricoh, USA. Brian could fix any problem he encountered. He loved being a team player and enthusiastically shared his talents and knowledge with his co-workers so that they could provide the best customer service possible.
Brian was a talented, self-taught, and recognized photographer. Whether he was photographing the birds or other animals visiting his back yard, or nature or beauty from his travels across the country and around the world, Brian had artistic, watchful eyes. He captured memorable, beautiful images and loved to share them with family, friends, and his many followers on social media.
Brian was a loving, caring, and selfless guy. He was generous with his time and was happy to help anyone; all you had to do was ask. Whenever his family and friends needed something done around their homes that they couldn't do themselves, their first thought was, "Time to call Brian." He also loved to share his photography talents and his technology expertise. Brian touched many lives in his lifetime, and as his coworkers from Ricoh say, "He left a big footprint".
A celebration of Brian's life and art will be held on May 7, 2023 from 11:00AM to 6:00PM at The Studio Around the Corner, 67 E. Main Street, Brewster, NY 10509. Please come to view his photographs, listen to his favorite tunes, and talk about what a great guy he was.
