Patterson Man With Fake Gun Faces Menacing Charges

There was a dispute at the Fox Run condos, according to the Putnam Sheriff's Office.

PATTERSON, NY — A man who is accused of flourishing an imitation gun during a dispute with neighbors faces charges in Patterson town court.

At 9:57 p.m. Saturday, Deputy William Rossiter was dispatched by Putnam 911 to the Fox Run condominium complex, where a handgun had reportedly been displayed during a dispute.

Rossiter found a group of people including two alleged victims, and was told the suspect was inside his apartment nearby. New York State Trooper Maricevic arrived on the scene to assist. He and Deputy Rossiter approached the apartment and James Waring, 57, opened the door.

Waring was ordered to the ground and the two officers were able to secure him.

Deputy Michael Sutherland, Deputy Michael Neuner, Sergeant John Cihanek, along with another trooper also responded to the location to assist in the investigation.

The gun, an imitation revolver, was recovered.

After an investigation, they alleged that Waring displayed it during a dispute.

Waring was placed under arrest and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for arrest processing. He was processed and charged with two counts of Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).

Waring was arraigned by the Honorable Justice Michael Caruso of the Town of Patterson Justice Court. Justice Caruso released Mr. Waring on his own recognizance, pending a future court date.
