Plea Deal For Danbury Bail Jumper In Putnam County Courts

He was accused of selling cocaine in Southeast.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A Connecticut man who posted bail and then didn't show up in court in New York has pleaded guilty to bail jumping and narcotics charges. Adam M. Latham, 35, was arrested Jan. 14 by investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office after he was released from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.

The Danbury resident had been arrested in February 2019 after an investigation into the sale of cocaine in Southeast. He posted bail.

Then he didn't show up in Putnam County Court to answer the charges, which included Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3 rd degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3 rd degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence, all felonies, and misdemeanor charges of Obstructing Governmental Administration 2 nd and Resisting Arrest.

On Jan. 14, investigators from the NEU traveled to Danbury Connecticut Superior Court to take Latham into custody. In addition to the pending County Court charges Latham was charged with one count of Bail Jumping in the 1st degree.

He was arraigned on the bench warrant before the Honorable Judge Rooney of the Putnam County Court and was sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash / $200,000 bond.

He was also arraigned in Carmel town court by the Honorable Judge Jacobellis on the bail jumping charges. That judge sent him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200 cash / $400 bond.

On Jan. 30 Latham pled guilty in Putnam County Court, before the Honorable James Rooney, to one count of third-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and one count of first-degree Bail Jumping. He will be sentenced at a later date, the Putnam Sheriff's Office said.
