Police Make Arrest in Brewster Man's Homicide Case
Investigators believe the suspect will face additional charges related to the incident as the court case moves forward.

BREWSTER, CT — Police have made an arrest in the homicide investigation of Brewster man Jason James Lowry Hoffman, which occurred at the Sterling Woods Condominium Complex on Sept. 4, 2019.
Danbury police took David Ramos, 33, of 6002 Hancock Drive, a friend of Hoffman’s and resident of the condominium where Hoffman was killed, into custody earlier this morning.
Ramos eluded capture until Wednesday morning, when he was found in a friend’s apartment on Scuppo Road in Danbury.

Police say detectives developed sufficient information through interviews and evidence collection to apply for a warrant for Ramos’ arrest, and that the warrant application linking Ramos to Hoffman’s death was approved on Sept. 9. But the court has sealed the information contained in the warrant affidavit, police say, limiting what can be revealed at this time.
The body of Hoffman, a 33-year-old Brewster, NY man, was discovered by emergency personnel shortly after 6 a.m. on Sept. 4. The Connecticut state medical examiner had classified the manner of death to be a homicide and the cause of death to be a gunshot to the upper torso, according to police.

Ramos was charged with first-degree manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to keep prescription drugs in original container, and interfering with the duties of a police officer.
"Investigators believe Ramos will face additional charges related to the incident as the court case moves forward and is looking into the possibility of others also facing charges related to the death," said Det. Lt. Mark Williams
Ramos is currently being held at the Danbury Police Department pending arraignment in Superior Court or the posting of a court set bond of $250,000.
