Putnam Holds Hearing About Raises For Top Officials

Lawmakers voted raises for themselves and most top officials in the fall, subject to a public hearing

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — County officials will hold a public hearing Dec. 16 about raises for several top officials.

Putnam lawmakers, who voted raises for themselves and 140 administrators in October, approved new higher salaries for these top officials Dec. 1:

  • Paul Eldridge, Personnel Director - $141,776
  • Michael Nesheiwat. Commissioner of Health - $190,383
  • Michael Piazza, Commissioner of Social Services/Mental Health/Youth Bureau - $151,139
  • Director of Real Property Tax Services - $100,591
  • Anthony Scannapieco, Commissioner of Board of Elections - $95,956
  • Catherine Croft Commissioner of Board of Elections - $95,956
  • Diane Schonfeld, Clerk of the Legislature - $102,363
  • Michele Alfano-Sharkey, County Auditor - $115,094

Also to be discussed at the hearing are the lawmakers' raises (to $41,809) and salary hikes approved for elected officials:

  • Robert L. Langley, Jr., Putnam County Sheriff - $156,492
  • Michael Bartolotti, Putnam County Clerk - $136,227

  • Michael Nesheiwat, Putnam County Coroner - $22.666
  • Additional Stipend for Legislature Chairperson - $10,452
