Putnam Man Barred From Owning Guns Had Loaded Rifle, Narcotics: Police

The Narcotics Enforcement Unit said they arrested the 56-year-old, after an investigation into threatening messages.

TOWN OF SOUTHEAST, NY — A Putnam man's inability to control his temper led police to illegally possessed guns and drugs, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville said that a 56-year-old Southeast man was arrested for felony fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, misdemeanor fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, second degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and second degree aggravated harassment.

On October 18, around 3:45 p.m., members of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit arrested Kevin Willis in the Town of Southeast, after their investigation into threatening messages Willis sent. While questioning him, investigators found that he was prohibited from owning firearms due to a prior felony, but possessed a firearm and narcotics.

After obtaining a search warrant for Willis' home, officers found a loaded rifle, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia. In addition, Willis had an outstanding warrant from the Danbury Police Department.

He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance. Willis later turned himself into the Danbury Police Department. An order of protection was issued for the victim.
