A fast-moving somewhat of a surprise snowstorm was expected to dump between 3-6 inches of snow on the area before it tapers off late Friday morning and early afternoon.The heavy wet snow is forecast to be at its worst from about 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The National Weather Service issued two notices:
