State Cops Make 5 DUI Arrests July 4 Weekend In Putnam County

State Police in Troop K said they removed 28 impaired drivers from public roadways over the July 4 weekend

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — New York State police in Troop K said they removed 28 drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs from public roadways over the July 4 weekend. Among them were five arrests in Putnam County; most were stopped initially for traffic or vehicle law violations but one was accused of DWI after his car got a flat tire. Another was driving with kids in the car.

  • On July 4, State Police arrested Alex Martinez, 19, of Hicksville, NY, for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 22 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, police said.
  • On July 6, State Police arrested Ashley M. Rivera, 26, of New Britain, CT, for DWAI Drugs. She was traveling on Interstate 84 in the town of Southeast, when she was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed she was under the influence of drugs, police said.
  • On July 6, State Police arrested Pedro Almonte, 62, of New York, NY, for Aggravated DWI Leandra’s Law, because children were in the car. He was traveling on Interstate 684 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, police alleged.
  • On July 7, State Police arrested Alan Rubin, 55, of Brewster, NY, for DWI. He was traveling on Main Street in the village of Brewster, when he was found disabled due to a flat tire. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, police said.
  • On July 7, State Police arrested Johanna Schrader-Fentress, 49, of Brookfield, CT, for DWI. She was traveling on Interstate 84 in the town of Kent, when she was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed she was under the influence of alcohol, police alleged.
