Snow Totals Rise: Winter Storm Warning In Putnam
Snow accumulation predictions have risen as well.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY: noon — The National Weather Service predicted snow totals of 5-10 inches for northern Westchester in its 11:30 a.m. briefing.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning Thursday morning for Putnam County. With the heightened level of alert has come an increase in the prediction of snow accumulation.
The storm, which will become an intense Nor'easter by Thursday afternoon, is still expected to have most impact on eastern New England and Canada.

After the storm, it will get much colder in the Hudson Valley, and wind chills will be way below zero into the weekend.
Hudson Valley Weather predicts that Putnam could get 4-8 inches of snow, but some locations, particularly on the east side of the county, could see as much as 12 inches.

How heavily the snow falls will depend in part on how strongly the Arctic air coming in from the north pushes the storm back, said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. Expect very cold temperatures to follow the storm.
The storm warning is in effect until 1 a.m. Friday.
WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the morning commute. Snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour are possible this morning into early afternoon. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected.
WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Wind gusts as high as 45 mph will cause local areas of blowing and drifting snow, and bring down a few tree limbs and powerlines.
