Vet 2 Vet Program at The Kent Public Library
Saturday, September 19, 2015 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Kent Public Library - Local History & Genealogy Room

We are proud to host the Vet2Vet Organization.
Program ambassadors will provide more information about the Vet2Vet program of Putnam County.
The PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Vet2Vet program of Putnam County provides Veterans and current active military personnel opportunities to come together in support of each other, to listen and benefit from each others experience with service related issues which may include getting back into civilian life, returning to school, securing civilian jobs, re-entry to family life or obtaining VA services. In addition to community activities and programming, peer support is also available to military families as well. This program has no restriction on discharge status, or service dates. The program is named in honor of Private First Class Joseph Patrick Dwyer, an Army Medic who served in Iraq, and subsequently passed away after a long battle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The Vet2Vet Program will utilize a combination of peer-to-peer mentoring, support groups, creative programming and additional activities. While every deployment is different, there is one constant: the camaraderie that comes from a shared experience of life in the military. This project will be administered through the NYS Office of Mental Health, locally through the Mental Health Association of Putnam County and the Putnam County Veterans Service Agency.
