On Thursday morning, Brewster Village Historian Denis Castelli came one step closer to completing a project that has been in the works since 2009.Â
That project, which was requested by Mayor James Schoenig, is a collection of portraits of the 20 Brewster mayors. Â The portraits are hanging on a wall in the , and they start with the first mayor, Abram J. Miller, who served in 1894. Both W. Andrew Ferris and James Bruen were added this week.
With the help of village employees and other community members, Castelli has gathered all but four photos. Â He is asking residents and community members for assistance as he searches for the final portraits:Â George R. Reynolds (1920 to 1925, 1931 to 1932), Â John E. Pugsley (1925 to 1931), Walter L. Scofield (1932 to 1935) and E. Stannard Tuttle (1980 to 1987).

"I would prefer a portrait, but can work with a full figure or even a group photo as long as the image of the individual is clear and recognizable," Castelli wrote in an email. "Original material will be returned unharmed. Photos and other images are needed only long enough to scan and return them to the owner."
