
Lucille “Cele” Olenius, 88, a lifelong Brewster resident, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home, Brewster, NY, where she was cared for with love and compassion.
Mrs. Olenius was born in Brewster, NY on March 10, 1927 to Thomas and Johanna Callahan.
She graduated from St. Lawrence O’Toole School and St. Mary’s High School in Katonah, NY. Lucille was the oldest of four daughters and predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen O’Neill and Rita Callahan.

On May 23, 1964 she married Sivert L Olenius at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY. Sivert predeceased her on June 22, 2008 after 44 years of marriage.
Mrs. Olenius and her husband moved to Melbourne, FL in 1998. More recently, they made their home with their son, Lars in Patterson, NY. She was a parishioner of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Mrs. Olenius is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Lars C. and Andrea Olenius of Patterson, NY; three grandchildren, Justin, Kayla and Emily Olenius, and her sister, Clare LePere.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January, 12, 2016 10AM at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster. Interment will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery in Somers, New York. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Monday from 4-8pm.
