Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a ban Tuesday morning of tractor trailers on the New York State Thruway and select interstates, including I-84. Read more here.

Putnam County was upgraded to a Blizzard Warning by the National Weather Service.
Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for all 62 New York counties to begin at midnight Tuesday. Above-ground subway will be suspended at 4 a.m. and it’s likely NYC buses, LIRR and Metro-North will be suspended Tuesday.

Countywide
Schools are closed across Putnam County.
All government agencies, libraries and community organizations are closed.
Brewster Mayor Schoenig declared a Village-wide State of Emergency due to the pending winter storm.
Village offices and court are closed Tuesday, expected to re-open Wednesday. Note: Circumstances may delay reopening depending on the actual severity of the storm.
Also, Suburban Carting will be doing the usual Tuesday garbage pick-up on Wednesday this week – street conditions permitting. Friday garbage and recycling will remain unchanged, village officials said.
Town of Southeast offices are closed Tuesday.
Statewide
With 12-24 inches of snow expected in the Hudson Valley, NYC and Long Island, and 8-16 inches upstate, the State Emergency Operations Center will open Monday evening. State agencies have already pre-positioned personnel, assets, and state stockpile resources – including sandbags, generators and pumps – to areas of the state where the storm will be at its strongest.

The attorney general of New York reminded people that during a snow emergency there is the possible that others will try to take advantage of the situation and raise prices.

NYSEG reminds residents to always avoid downed power lines – even lines that appear "dead" can be deadly – and stay out of flooded basements. If you plan to use an emergency generator or dry ice, view their storm tips.

- Do your neighbors have power?
- Are the streetlights lit?
- Are your breakers tripped or fuses blown?
- Do you have no lights in only one room?
If you answered yes to any of the above, the problem may be with your equipment. Do not report an outage online, call instead at 1.800.572.1131.
