Wrong-Way DWI Charge for Carmel Man

He was headed east in the westbound lanes of I-90. He was also wanted in Massachusetts, state police said.

At about 2:52 a.m. Dec. 14, State Police responded to the report of a wrong way Toyota Camry traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes on I-90 between Exits B1 and B2 of the Berkshire Spur. Troopers observed the wrong way vehicle and quickly pulled it over before any incidents.

They concluded the driver of the vehicle, Brendan A. Griffith, 25, of Carmel, NY, was intoxicated.

Griffith was transported and processed at SP Albany, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.23 percent. He has an active arrest warrant out of Massachusetts and as a result was charged with:

  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Fugitive from Justice

Griffith was arraigned before the Town of Chatham Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
