Man Shot 16-Year-Old Sunset Park Girl In The Legs, Police Say

The 16-year-old is one of a growing number of Brooklyn teens to be victimized by gun violence this summer.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man clad in red they believe shot a teenage girl in the legs.

Police released images of the man they suspect shot a 16-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man near 53rd Street and Eighth Avenue on June 7 at about 12:15 p.m.

Both the teenager and the young man were rushed to Maimonides Hospital where they were treated for gunshot wounds in their legs, said police.

Several Brooklyn teenagers have been the victims of gun violence this summer. A 15-year-old and 16-year-old were murdered in East New York on Saturday, Justin Delapara, 17, shot 16-year-old Latrell Brown in the head in Bed-Stuy last week, a Bed-Stuy teen was seriously injured earlier this month and an 18-year-old was shot dead in Flatbush in June.

The Sunset Park suspect — whom police describe as a man in his early 20s, standing about 5-foot 8-inches, weighing about 200 pounds — was last seen sporting a red hoodie, red hat, red shoes and beard.
