The Cultural Arts Playhouse is helping Veterans

Cultural Arts Playhouse and AARP Long Island will announce that during the entire run of Footloose: The Musical, from June 15 th to July 15th, that a veterans sock drive collection box will be made available for all theatergoers to drop off brand new socks for veterans. One of the most explosive movie musicals, FOOTLOOSE takes you to a small farming town, where the main
character Ren moves from Chicago and prepares for the inevitable adjustments to his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher,
determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. This
heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. Socks are considered one of the most requested items from service members and veterans. AARP Long Island has teamed up with the Cultural Arts Playhouse to help collect socks to be donated to local Nassau veterans. From June 15 th to July 15 th , theatergoers can bring sock donations to a collection box at the theater’s lobby. This collection of brand new socks will be distributed to veterans throughout Nassau County, with the help and assistance of a local Nassau County veterans organization.
